Campus Safety Officer

Department: Campus Safety

Summary Description:

Helps maintain a safe and secure campus learning environment for all by protecting lives, property, and reputation of Colorado College and the greater college community, including guests and visitors.

Required Qualifications:

High school graduate plus specialized related training and a minimum of three years of related experience or equivalent education; must be 21 and possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is insurable by Colorado College’s motor vehicle insurance carrier; excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent customer service skills; good judgment and ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion; ability to think critically and solve problems; ability to develop strong working relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds; ability to operate standard office equipment. Physical requirements include ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions; walking, prolonged standing, climbing of stairs; ability to lift/carry up to 20 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Some college/Associate’s degree in a related field; experience in student affairs, campus safety, security, police work, and/or emergency services; NIMS ICS certification.
