Notre Dame AmeriCorps Member - Bethlehem Inn Case Manager and Program Support

Notre Dame Mission Volunteers AmeriCorps—Bend partners with local non-profit organizations in Central Oregon. These include after-school enrichment programs, outdoor education providers, and emergency housing shelters. AmeriCorps members engage in service that ranges from youth mentorship, community outreach, teaching, and case management. While in the NDMV AmeriCorps program, members will engage in bi-weekly meetings, professional development, and additional service in the community. 

About the Position:
Founded in 1999, the Bethlehem Inn is a community supported emergency shelter committed to providing a safe, secure, and an accountable environment for residents to meet basic needs and connect to community resources. Our goal is to support single adults and families in making life-affirming choices and measurable progress towards self-sufficiency. The Bethlehem Inn provides emergency access to shelter and food in a safe, secure environment.

The AmeriCorps member will serve as a Case Manager and Program Support. The member will work side by side with agency staff ensuring successful service delivery. This involves reviewing the communication log at the beginning of each shift for changes and updates for both adults and family residents and making daily entries in the communication log of any pertinent resident information. The member will also have the opportunity to conduct case management by: assisting residents in educating them on available resources and social support, completing intakes and informal assessments, coach residents in life skills such as goal setting and creating an action plan, revisiting that action plan on a regular basis, scheduling follow up appointments in order to measure progress, record assessment information and update appropriate staff personnel. The member will also have the opportunity to focus on aspects of the organization that are of particular interest and customize the position to utilize skills and interests to make the service term meaningful and fulfilling. This is a 35 – 40 hours/week position and the Program Managers (Families First Program and Next Steps Program) would directly supervise and support the member throughout the year.

NDMVA Program Description:
Members serve for ~11 months beginning in September / October through the last week of July at one of our partnering organizations. Service members receive up to $16,000 (pre tax) living stipend for the year distributed bi-weekly, an educational award of $6,345 upon completion of their year of service, and Health Insurance Available through CIGNA. Service Members also receive on the job training, opportunities for career development, and additional training and support provided by the PNW Site Director.
