Outdoor Adventure Intern

  • APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS)

Be an intern at Girl Scouts of Utah’s Camp Cloud Rim, a 9 ½ week residential summer camp program for campers ages 6-17. Break the mold and be the ultimate outdoor enthusiast by showing off your skills in hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, and group management. The Outdoor Adventure Intern (aka. High Adventure Director) is responsible overseeing the safety and operation of the rock wall, rock face, and backpacking and overnight camping equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • If earning credits for college or a university, complete all tasks and requirements assigned by the college or university.
  • Be a member of the camp Leadership Team
  • Work 40 hours a week
  • Train camp staff to be proficient belayers using a top rope system
  • Take middle-schoolers and teenagers on excursions in the Wasatch and Uinta Mountain ranges.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Candidate can be any gender.
  • Rock climbing, backpacking, and/or hiking experience
  • Must be least 21 years old with a clean driving record and auto insurance
  • Hold or willing to obtain current Red Cross First Aid & CPR and Wilderness First Aid certifications or the equivalent.

Camp Cloud Rim sits at an elevation of 9,200 feet near Park City, nestled among aspen and pine on the shores of Lake Brimhall. Camp Cloud Rim has beautiful facilities including a lodge and shower house, electricity, hot water, and flush toilets. Girls live in cabins or platform tents with staff located nearby. A highlight of Camp Cloud Rim is beautiful Lake Brimhall where campers can canoe, sail, kayak, and swim. Other activities include pottery, rock climbing, hiking and backpacking.
