Online Theater Teacher/Mentor for High School Students

Join our team as an Online Theater Teacher/Mentor, specializing in coaching high school students who are passionate about theater and planning to pursue theater as their college major. This position offers a unique opportunity to empower and educate students in all areas of acting and theater, including acting techniques, American plays, directing styles, media, and playwriting for both stage and film.

Responsibilities:
  • Introduce and coach students in the Meisner, Chekhov, Adler, and Stanislavski acting techniques widely used in secondary and college theater departments.
  • Coach students in delivering both comic and dramatic monologues, encompassing contemporary and classical works.
  • Conduct vocal training sessions focusing on breathing techniques, articulation, projection, and character development.
  • Teach acting techniques that emphasize dramatic tension, rich imagery, breath inspiration, and moment-to-moment engagement.
  • Guide students through script analysis to enhance their understanding of monologues and materials.
  • Assist students in selecting audition materials that best showcase their talents and potential.
  • Explore theater and musical theater history, starting with Greek Theater, and study the American Theater Canon, including influential playwrights and their works.
  • Provide guidance in selecting and creating summer theater programs and college programs.
  • Support students' theater work at their respective schools through acting, directing, playwriting, and special projects.
  • Collaborate with students' college counselors to identify colleges with strong theater programs.

Requirements:
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring students in theater.
  • Expertise in acting techniques, American plays, directing styles, and script analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to tailor lessons to meet individual student needs.
  • Passion for guiding and nurturing aspiring theater artists.
