Amusement Rides & Devices Compliance Inspector

This position is intended to be 100% remote and is required to consistently travel to different work sites around the state.

Description of Job
The salary range for this posting is -
$32.74 - $36.84 Hourly
$2,619.23 - $2,947.38 Biweekly
$5,675.00 - $6,386.00 Monthly
$68,100.00 - $76,632.00 Annually 

This position serves as an investigator of compliance for regulated amusement ride operators and third-party inspectors and exists to interpret statutes, rules, regulations, policies and other guidance documents in order to determine whether the aforementioned parties are complying with requirements. This position conducts field compliance inspections of amusement rides and devices and audits third-party inspectors to obtain compliance with existing rules and regulations, thus maintaining a standard of safety for amusement ride patrons.

This position is a primary point of contact in the State of Colorado for regulated parties regarding injury reporting and collaborates with the Amusement Rides program manager to conduct incident investigations, which involves gathering all relevant information from the parties impacted by the incident, compiling the information gathered into a draft incident report and assisting the Amusement Rides program manager with finalizing the incident report.

This position oversees the compliance tracking process and analyzes the data to determine the most appropriate approach with which to follow up with regulated parties regarding their levels of compliance.

This position supports the Amusement Rides program manager in the development and delivery of the robust training program for amusement rides operators and utilizes information gained through tracking compliance to determine the information that would be beneficial to include in the training program.

This position will also serve as a team leader to direct field investigations, to coordinate with program support staff regarding sending followup documentation to parties related to field investigations, and to train and mentor the position that will assist with field investigations, training and outreach.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 


Substitutions:

Additional appropriate experience will substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment to include: Engineering, Construction Management, Recreation Management, Public Safety or a closely related field.

AND

Two years of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position to include: Amusement Industry experience including any combination of manufacturer, operator, maintenance technician, trainer, or other supporting positions.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preference will be given to applicants with at least an Associate’s level degree in engineering, construction management, recreation management, or other industry related field. 
  • Preference will be given to applicants with at least three (3) years of experience working as a professional (3rd party) inspector. 
  • Current or expired, with eligibility to reapply, Level II inspector certifications from ACCT, AIMS, NAARSO, or other nationally recognized certification body is preferred. Other certifications and licenses relevant to the industry are preferred
  • Previous experience supervising inspectors performing work in the amusement industry or other public safety industries, preferred.
  • Knowledge of statues, regulations, standards, and other applicable codes, pertaining to the design, installation, inspection, operation, maintenance, and training of amusement rides and devices.
  • Excellent organizational skills: the ability to set, track, and accomplish priorities, goals, and timetables to achieve maximum productivity, knowing the status of activities at all times;
  • Understanding of and competency with systems such as Google Drive, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Spreadsheets, and similar computer programs.
  • Experience performing alike duties as a State of Colorado classified employee.


Required Competencies
Intimate knowledge of terminology and technical operations of the amusement rides industry and of the functions of the amusement rides program, a very good understanding of all program statutes and regulations, excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and excellent attention to detail regarding documentation of activities and follow through.

Conditions of Employment:
