Office Assistant 4 (PCN 061114) $22,500 SHARP Incentive

The successful candidate may be eligible for a $22,500 incentive award through the Alaska SHARP 3 program. If selected, the Office Assistant will enter into a contract with the State of Alaska, agreeing to live and work in Bethel for three years. SHARP participants can choose quarterly student loan repayments or direct payments for the duration of the contract. 

What you will be doing:
This Office Assistant 4 (OA 4) position within the Section of Public Health Nursing serves as the Office Manager for the Bethel Public Health Center. This position is responsible for supervising the performance of administrative staff, oversight of client/customer service and efficient administrative support for the nursing staff.

The working environment you can expect:
This position is located in Bethel - a hub community in southwest Alaska. Bethel is located about 400 air miles west of Anchorage and is only accessible by air and river. Bethel is the 9th largest community in Alaska with over 6,000 residents. Bethel Public Health Center provide services to Bethel as well as 48-50 Alaska Native villages spread over an area roughly the size of Oregon.

The Bethel Public Health Center functions as a “safety net” and provides a wide variety of preventive health services such as immunizations, well child exams, reproductive health exams, pregnancy testing, tuberculosis screening and case management, sexually transmitted disease screening and community health promotion and assessment. The successful candidate will be working alongside Public Health Nurses (PHNs) providing administrative support as well as with the community. We are seeking a talented multi-tasker who is detail-oriented with strong clerical and interpersonal skills.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or the equivalent.
AND
One year of office work experience providing a broad range of clerical support that includes performing reception duties, answering routine questions on services or products, retrieving information from electronic or hard copy files, recording expenditures and receipts, or typing routine correspondence.
