Sustainability and Social Purpose Manager

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Sustainability and Social Purpose Manager will focus on identifying and implementing social and environmental initiatives that will benefit our community, while also supporting our mission to achieve a sustainable future. Manage all sustainability projects, including solar installations, carbon offsets, waste reduction efforts, and decarbonization. This individual will lead and manage new programs, improving existing programs, and tracking results to evaluate Legacy Vacation Resorts annual improvements in its corporate responsibility and sustainability practices. Additionally, this position will focus on the mission statement and developing a culture that takes care of the environment and gives back to the community

Essential Functions Statement(s) 

  • Collaborates with our internal teams and external partners to develop and execute a proactive sustainability strategy that demonstrates recognizable benefits to our guests
  • Utilizes and creates analytic tools to assist with the evaluation of project design and sustainable strategies
  • Identifies, understands, prioritizes, and tracks emerging and current issues related to sustainability
  • Keeps track of the performance of sustainability efforts throughout the company which include but are not limited to Green programs (Green supplies, Green processes, Green purchasing)
  • Manages the company’s B Corp Certification and leads the Recertification process every 3 years
  • Coordinates with non-hazardous solid waste vendors including but not limited to placement, pull scheduling, full containers and maximized weights and cost
  • Strategizes and carries out projects to help the company achieve their ambitious sustainability and decarbonization goals
  • Creates and updates reports with utility data (electricity, natural gas, fuel, water, sewer) for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting using platforms such as Measurabl and internal spreadsheets
  • Responsible for staying current with industry updates, sustainability trends and sharing information with management including but not limited to events, seminars, and conventions 
  • Works with the Development/Renovations team to achieve sustainable standards while also incorporating visual sustainable measures across all resorts
  • Researches best practices for employee volunteering, charitable efforts within Legacy and the community and creates volunteer opportunities for the team to achieve annual volunteer hour goals
  • Tracks all community and volunteering activities including but not limited to monetary and in-kind donations, vacation certificates, volunteer events, etc.
  • Collaborates with the Purchasing team to help drive sustainable purchasing standards and guiding principles throughout all resorts
  • Conducts ongoing team member and managerial social purpose training including an annual webinar to update team members on current social purpose company goals, policies, and initiatives. Demonstrating best practices for communicating these items to guests and other team members
  • Coordinates a company-wide waste audit every 6 months and sends out a waste reduction memo alongside the T&P Newsletter twice a year
  • Creates the Annual Benefit Report 
  • Leads the Social Purpose Champions team, and participates in any other LVR Sustainability affiliations
  • Completes various additional tasks and assignments as needed
