Job Description
- Conduct correlation analysis of Stage 2 and 3 Isolation seeds and stage 3 DHS Inbred traits like female yield, test weight, and seed size with corresponding hybrids.
- Conduct inbred lines by tester comparison for various VMEK data.
- Generate inbred threshold values for VMEK generated inbred data for test weight, seed size, seeds/lb, and female yield using checks grown in isolation trials.
- Determine the association between VMEK generated female yield and SPR predicted 80k units.
- Assist operations and BPLs in pollination.
- Assist BPL’s in collecting flowering and other opportunistic notes in both nursery and yield trial.
- Visit and interact with scientists from other functions
- PROJECT OUTCOMES/OUTPUTS
- Establish selection thresholds for various VMEK traits and apply in early stage inbred selection
- Understand the correlation between inbred and hybrid traits
- Validate genomic predictions/selections
- Develop standardized summaries and visualizations of the data for utilization across market segment teams
Qualifications
- Must be a current student continuing education upon completion of internship (Internship dates are May 2024 through August 2024)
- Possess some type of statistical skillset in Tableau, Power BI, or related statistical software
- Pursuing a bachelors degree in agriculture or related area of study (plant breeding preferred)
Additional Information
(hourly salary range of $18 - $30 an hour)
